What I've noticed when printing European tickets (airline boarding passes, German train tickets, etc.) is that they often have fine print at the bottom that specifically says that you must use A4 paper. I've been using 8.5x11" this whole time.
So far, they haven't noticed. Ohoho, delightfully devilish.
