Quite agree that, with a bit of searching, the best of British food equals any other country. However, it doesn't take any searching to find record-challenging bad food. My favourite anecdote: I went into a British (ie: not McDonald's or other international chains) burger joint. Burger and chips, please. Chips went into a metal basket and down into the boiling oil. Burger patty went into a second basket and likewise down into boiling oil. The extra infusion of grease gave the burger a definitely memorable texture...
