    1. Two households can be together now. Masks are still required on public transit, and 1.5 meter distancing is still the norm in shops and smaller spaces, but yeah, things are relaxing.

  2. Finally, a non-political/non-pandemic comic.

    1. Yeah I hear you. I know many people don't come to Itchy Feet for more of what's in the news anyway. But this comic is my outlet, and usually I can't just ignore what's going on. For better or worse!

  3. I am not sure if it's me that don't see the expression (as english is not my first language) but I'd awaited in the third cell that it was because "that assume they will NOT live to see their birthday" (which would be morbid while assuming they would live would be good...) is there a subtility I don't understand/an expression that is different than most construction or is it a typo ?

PS : don't change your strip subject due to negative comment about how political or sad or pandemic related they are...
First it's your strip, you do what you want
Second (which I know, invalidate a little my first as it's an advice/stand ;) We live in the world, thinking that we are not affected by things that happen is in itself a position

PPS : loved the one from last week. I didn't expected it but it is so true

    1. Thanks - yeah, I agree completely. Nice to hear I'm not alone!

I've heard this "not/won't" comment from a LOT of people on social media so you're not alone! I think it might be a language thing. Basically, the idea here is that by wishing them happy birthday before the birthday, you are assuming they will live to have a happy birthday in the future, but you don't know that for sure, so you might be jinxing it.

    2. I wondered this myself, and I think I understand your explanation here, but it seems like it just adds a whole extra layer of worry to something without good reason. i wonder if there's some cultural significance in Germany where a statement like that makes more sense? I mean I'm very aware they have some History but wow... we've all got enough to worry about as it is! 'Course there's many weird traditions in specific cultures, like specific numbers in Japan that are thought to be so bad (to the point I would call them cursed) that you're not even supposed to bring that number of gifts to a party even if that's how many people are receiving gifts... you're supposed to bring one more. Peeps be silly.
