To me, exotic is how monogenous can population be. I moved into big town that still feeds on surrounding villages - new people move mostly from there. And boy people look the same here. A dozen of face types for each gender, in my impression.
One of the strangest experiences I, an American in Hyderabad, had was having random people asking me to pose in their photos. That is, when they weren't taking selfies with me in their background.
Exoticism is in the eye of the beholder... ^^
