That was a cultural joke, right? It has nothing to do with what you know, but what you have been used to .... I guess it is the same the other way around (especially in the mid summer): "Is that sun ever going to go down?!!! Nooo!"
Too true! I've not done the extremes of anywhere Scandinavian to the equator, but I did move from southern Australia to SE Asia and distinctly remember thinking I was going slightly crazy that it got dark so damn quick.
I still love this one so much. It's how I felt when I moved from Michigan to Southern California, at least in the summer. So glad to be back home, where sunsets linger.
