I am Indonesian, and even though durian is not my favorite fruit, I can eat durian, but not too much.
But you know, my sister can eat one whole durian by herself. My mother can do that too. When durian season comes, sometimes my dad would bring home like 3-4 durians (we are family of 5), I would eat only like 2 or 3 pieces of the durian meat, and the rest of the family will eat the remaining.
Fun fact: if you eat too much durian, your breath and your fart will smell like durian. At least during the day when you eat it.
Casu marzu if I recall. Maggots often jump out of cheese and hurt your eyes, so a person bold enough to taste casu marzu should equip him or herself with protective eyewear.
Well, cancel all future Itchy Feet comics. This is the craziest thing I've ever read, I'm from now on dedicating this entire comic to just this cheese. WOW.
If so, then why won't You add vietnamese snake meat to "Truly inedible part 2"? It might seem weird and tbh I don't believe it myself, but snake heart sometimes keeps beating on your plate. Yuck.
Ughh...Hakarl is by far the worst thing ever to have touched taste buds. Makes me wonder if it's an inside joke Icelanders play on tourists...
ReplyDeleteThat was one version of this comic I was considering. It definitely seems much more likely.
DeleteI've tasted the Icelandic shark meat, and I have to say that durian tastes much worse, besides its texture (mouthfeel) is just disgusting.
ReplyDeleteReally?? Oh wow

I was curious what durian would taste like. I had no idea it was smelly.
ReplyDeleteRotten fruit and garlic.
DeleteNo, only 8/10 or 9/10 ripe durians are smelly. Durians usually have a rich, sweet taste.
DeleteYou could not have *paid* me to try the Hakarl. Just ew. Serious ew.
ReplyDeleteToo exotic? In Sardinia they eat rotten cheese with live worms
ReplyDeleteNo kidding! What's that called?

ReplyDeleteWhat. That CAN'T be true.
DeleteOH MY GOD THAT'S TRUE
