    1. Where do you think the Canadians got it from? It is alive and well in the UK. (not just england). I apologised for someone walking into me just the other day. he was looking at his phone and just walked right into me.

    2. Haha actually if you go to smaller American cities (usually here in the south) we do this too. Both parties apologize no matter whose fault it was, and in L.A. I thought it was almost rude that I was right behind another guy as we were walking into a building and he didn't hold the door open for me, that's just common practice down here. But in bigger cities people have less space and have to compete more for things, so they are used to having to be a little more aggressive in their approach. But here in smaller cities we can afford to be polite without being a pushover. I suppose if you tried to hold the door open for everyone within distance of you in New York you'd be standing there for quite awhile.

  4. This is totally true. I'm from Arkansas and we will both apologize if we run into someone.

  5. Didn't something like this happen in National Lampoon's European vacation?

  6. studied there for a year, have been back for a year, still stuck saying "sorry" more often than "excuse me". It is a hard habit to break.
