Yup, that's the famous "Dönertier" (see also http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erkan_und_Stefan#Wortsch.C3.B6pfungen ) First observed by Erkan and Stefan the German stand up comedians (Kebab is very popular in Germany).
In the Munich area (where the abovementioned "Erkan und Stefan" were most popular) there are (or probably were, I haven't seen them in a while) kebab stands built like a Dönertier: http://mw2.google.com/mw-panoramio/photos/medium/2041969.jpg
